Chantal Esperanza
I believe that healing takes place when we are in safe, supportive relationships. I approach the stories and life experiences of my clients with humility, non-judgment, and heartfelt compassion.
I help people living with trauma, addiction, and chronic illness overcome cycles of pain and disconnection by rebuilding safety, resilience, and meaning in their lives. My approach always includes evidence-based care rooted in compassion and kindness. I believe this foundation of safety has the power to transform the course of a life.
I see counselling as more than just treating symptoms. Therapy is about supporting your whole system, mind, body, and spirit, to facilitate healing from the inside out. Together, we work gently with the nervous system, to create space for safety and connection, and foster new pathways toward resilience, hope, and meaning.
Hobbies and Interests
I try to live my own life with gentleness. Outside of my work, I spend most of my time with Bug, my sweet little canine companion. He is one of my greatest teachers in play, companionship, and unconditional love. I also love creating art, resting, and connecting with the land and my community.
Education & Experience
I have a background that spans the arts, civic engagement, harm reduction, and public health policy, experiences that continue to shape how I understand resilience and human dignity. I am trained in EMDR therapy and hold a Master of Counselling Psychology. My work is also influenced by practices that nurture compassion and connection, such as Buddhist psychology, feminist perspectives, narrative approaches, and the science of how our brains, bodies, and relationships shape healing.
