Geordie Hart, Registered Clinical Counsellor at OP Counselling

Geordie Hart

I help people understand the patterns they’re stuck in, build a solid foundation, and move toward a life aligned with their values and purpose. I often see folks dealing with stress, anxiety, addiction, depression, burnout, relationship cycles, or a lingering sense that they’re not living in alignment with who they want to be. If you’ve tried pushing through but still find the same patterns repeating, you’re not alone and I can definitely help.

Folks often come to me knowing something isn’t working, but have struggled to find solutions on their own. They aren’t looking for quick fixes, they want real change. My focus is on supporting you in slowing down and noticing the patterns beneath the surface, so you can navigate towards living a more fulfilling life.

My work is guided by a four-pillar process that helps people move from crisis to stabilization and into thriving:

  1. Understanding the Pattern: We slow things down and track what’s happening: your triggers, coping strategies, attachment patterns, and the cycles that keep repeating.

  2. Building Safety & Stability: Together, we create a foundation of emotional and physiological safety by developing tools, so you can feel more grounded and resourced in your day-to-day life.

  3. Deep Dive and Making Sense of What’s Underneath: We explore the deeper layers, often times just outside of conscious memory: your history, unmet needs, beliefs, and emotional landscape.

  4. Living in Alignment: We shift from surviving to thriving by clarifying your values, reducing old constraints, and creating room for authenticity, connection, and forward movement.

Building Steadier Footing and Real Connection

Counselling isn’t about eliminating difficult emotions. It’s about creating steadier footing so you don’t feel thrown off course when they arise. By learning to process emotions more fully, you can handle conflict in ways that build connection instead of isolation, with your partner, your family, your friends, and yourself.

My Background

My background includes frontline mental health work in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside, as well as decades of touring as a musician/band manager, and teaching music to children and youth with diverse needs. I’ve seen a lot, and these paths have taught me the value of holding safe spaces with compassion, curiosity, and zero judgment.

If you’re ready to explore your patterns with someone who will meet you with curiosity and compassion, I’d be glad to walk alongside you. Let’s take the first step together.
